Conservatism Bias is when you do not sufficiently change your belief when presented with new evidence contrary to that belief. This is a form of anchoring bias. People value the prior position over new evidence.
Examples of Conservatism Bias
- Investors value original forecasts over recent company news.
- Stakeholders unwilling to remove a feature in production after encountering evidence it has low engagement or is harmful to customers.
- Consumers continue to buy from a brand based on initial quality, not current quality of the customer experience.
